Territorial design work carried out during a residency in Hell Bourg as part of the Arléo festival: creation of a wallpaper pattern inspired by an invasive plant emblematic of the Cirque de Salazie: the chayote.

A performance involving the complete covering of a home interior took place during the 3 days of the festival.

“The theme of this edition resonates directly with the work of Delphine Simonet, for whom the Cirque de Salazie has been a major source of inspiration since the beginning of her pictorial practice.

She draws from it a poetry and an aesthetic nourished by the beings, landscapes and natural dynamics that inhabit it. The notions of covering, flowing and transformation structure her visual language: she paints through superimpositions and transparencies, seeking a vibrant, nuanced light, where forms reveal themselves as much as they conceal themselves.

These layers echo what endures and shines through, the impermanence and richness of life, the depth of beings and landscapes.

As part of the festival, Delphine Simonet will undertake a two-week residency to identify neglected spaces—buildings, objects, urban or landscaped surfaces—which she will then transform through a process of covering. Using her "chouchou" (a type of scrunchie) artwork created in Salazie, she will produce an artistic wallpaper to cover these spaces during the festival.
