Emergence
Emergence is a mural created as part of the Kromali festival in Saint Paul in 2026.
Completed entirely by hand with a brush for a surface area of 40 m2, it required 260 hours of work.
This plant composition tells the story of the settlement of Réunion and the relationship between plants and humans. It includes endemic plants, which welcomed the first inhabitants, exotic plants brought back by sailors at different times, and native plants that remind us that this ecosystem has never truly been isolated from the rest of the world.
The composition of this garden, based on the principles of agroforestry and traditional subsistence farming, reminds us that variety is a source of life and that differences complement each other, reflecting the spirit of living together in Réunion.
